In the coming months, U.S. Embassy Warsaw and U.S. Consulate General Krakow will be commemorating the centennials of Poland regaining independence (2018) and the establishment of U.S.-Polish diplomatic relations (2019). The Mission will initiate its celebrations of these milestone dates on December 6 and continue commemorating them in Poland and the United States. These anniversaries provide opportunities for both countries to celebrate these momentous events together and to renew and strengthen people-to-people ties by highlighting our shared histories, shared values, and cooperation.
On December 6, “100 Lat Razem: Ludzie, Historia, Przyszłość,”we will send our diplomats to cities in every wojewodzka across Poland to meet and interact with Poles and celebrate these anniversaries, including Warsaw, Kraków, Lublin, Radom, Katowice, Lodz, Wroclaw, Sopot, Białystok, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Bydgoszcz, Kielce, Koszalin, Olsztyn, Opole, Poznań, Słupsk, Suwałki, Szczecin and Rzeszów.
Each event will include presentations by diplomats on the past 100 years of U.S.-Polish relations followed by a cake cutting. The Warsaw event will take place at Warsaw University of Technology, which will be the home of a new American Center Warsaw. Ambassador Jones will address the audience and connect virtually to participating cities across Poland as part of the celebrations.
These Kick Off events will also launch our goal to send diplomats to 100 cities across Poland in the coming months. So please join and follow us on our social media platforms by using the hashtag #100latPLiUSA.
