Ambassador Paul Jones and Consul General Walter Braunohler joined Polish President Andrzej Duda, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and 300 others at a ceremony commemorating the 71st Anniversary of the Liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau German Nazi Death Camp on January 27. This day also marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day. During the ceremony, survivors of Auschwitz told their stories of return to normal life after their liberation from German Nazi death camps. Speeches were followed by prayers and a candle-laying ceremony at the International Monument in Birkenau.
