Maksymilian Wysocki, wPolityce: As promised two quick questions. Your Excellency, how does US business find Poland and opportunities in Poland? Is Poland an attractive place for US investment?
Ambassador Brzezinski: Poland’s an incredibly attractive place for investment because the most important thing you invest in is people. And Polish people are technically very savvy. I mean, this, of course, is the land of Marie Curie Sklodowska and Nicholas Copernicus. There’s tremendous innovation here. There’s tremendous idea development. And then there’s the word “lojalnosc.” My late father, when I asked him, “What is the most important quality you look for in an employee?” He always said to me “lojalnosc” – loyalty – you find that in Poland in an exceptional way.
Maksymilian Wysocki, wPolityce: So loyalty is the king, but the tech savvy is also a good thing. So in your opinion, Poles are tech savvy. So basically, this whole idea of a Polish digital valley as this regional Silicon Valley in Eastern Europe is possible?
Ambassador Brzezinski: Well, do you know where I learned most closely how tech savvy Poles are? In Silicon Valley, because I’m from the private sector. I’m a political appointee as an ambassador and I worked in business before coming into this particular job. And I worked for several years for the platform that manages the Stanford endowment, Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. And I saw so many programmers and coders and innovators out there, speaking Polish. It was Poland, in the West Coast of the United States, taking their knowledge and their technical understanding there. It exists here with great depth, and it’s a huge possibility for investors on the tech side around the world.
Maksymilian Wysocki, wPolityce: So the last quick question, what are the low hanging fruits? What kind of business you think might be the best to invest in Poland?
Ambassador Brzezinski: Well, what I’ve been personally very impressed by in terms of technology, is the innovation in connective technology. In other words, those technologies that connect people around the country, or around the world, with the press of a button. There’s so much innovation and thought being dedicated to that here in Poland. And I think there’s so much opportunity to scale those ideas for investors that want to return.
Maksymilian Wysocki, wPolityce: Thank you very much. Thank you.
