My America: Summer Work Travel Photo Contest

A NEW EDITION OF “MY AMERICA” PHOTO CONTEST

U.S. Embassy Warsaw and U.S. Consulate General Krakow are pleased to announce a new edition of the “My America: Summer Work Travel Photo Contest.” We invite Summer Work Travel participants from Poland to submit photographs that highlight their experience in America. Photographs may focus on the natural environment, culture, people, or places of the United States, among other subjects, from their time in the United States. The contest is open to participants from any program year; however, winning photographs from other contests, including previous editions of Summer Work Travel photo contests, organized by the U.S. Embassy and Consulate, are not eligible.

Photographs will be judged by a panel comprised of U.S. Embassy and Consulate representatives. Criteria for judging the photos include, but are not limited to: relevance to the contest title, originality, creativity, effectiveness, and composition. The jury will select up to 25 finalists, including one grand prize winner. The grand prize winner will receive an Apple iPad. Second and third prize winners will receive iPod Nano and iPod Touch, respectively. Other finalists will receive special America-themed gift bags. Finalists may also have their photographs displayed online and/or at the Embassy or Consulate.

Each participant may submit a maximum of two photographs by email to: SWTPoland@state.gov. Each submitted photograph must include a title, description, location and month and year the photo was taken. Photo submissions must be attachments in jpg format, 5 megabytes or smaller, but photo size must be at least 3,000 pixels on the longest side. Contestants must also confirm their participation in the Summer Work Travel Program by providing the following statement in the text of their e-mail submission: “I confirm that I participated in the Summer Work Travel Program in [this year] and I accept the Contest Rules”. Contest deadline is October 23, 2016.

Results will be announced in December 2016 on the U.S. Embassy and Consulate website and on Facebook sites of the U.S. Embassy Warsaw and U.S. Consulate General Krakow. Winners and finalists will be notified by e-mail. More detailed information on the contest and how to enter is included in the official contest rules (PDF. 387Kb). The Summer Work Travel program provides foreign students with the opportunity to live work and travel in the United States during their summer vacation from college or university. During their summer in America, students learn about the people and way of life in the United States.
