Polish Border Guards and Customs Officials Train on WMD Detection

On May 2-6, 2016 Polish Border Guards and Customs officials took part in a training seminar on detection of Weapons of Mass Destruction. The training took place at Lithuania’s Nuclear Security Center of Excellence in Medininkai. The training was part of the U.S. Export Control & Border Security Program sponsored by the Department of State’s Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation.  The Polish participants joined their counterparts from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia for this training, and all participants shared their experiences and best practices in interdicting illegal materials. During the training session, participants practiced various techniques to detect nuclear, radioactive, biological, and explosive materials and improved their proficiencies operating technical equipment.
