Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra to Perform for the First Time in Poland!

The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the imminent arrival in Poland of the New York-based Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra to participate in the 22nd edition of the Ludwig Van Beethoven Easter Festival.  Held in cities throughout Poland from March 16-30, this year’s dynamic Beethoven Easter Festival will commemorate the anniversaries of two great American composers:  the 100th birthday anniversary of Leonard Bernstein and 120th birthday anniversary of George Gershwin.  It will also celebrate the 85th birthday anniversaries of composers Krzysztof Penderecki and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.

This will be the first visit to Poland of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.  They will give performances in Warsaw, Wroclaw, Katowice and Lublin.  Joanna Falletta, the world-renowned maestro of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, is one of Leonard Bernstein’s last music students and has performed in Poland previously.  During this tour, Falletta will make history as the first American woman to conduct an orchestra at the Ludwig Van Beethoven Easter Festival.  She will be joined by the distinguished pianist Conrad Tao.  The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will also become the first full American orchestra to perform at the Easter Festival.

The U.S. Embassy has been a proud sponsor of the Ludwig Van Beethoven Easter Festival for many years and is delighted to be supporting the visit this year of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
