On July 1 Embassy hosted a group of youth for the closing ceremony of the 2nd edition of Civic UP! Academy – summer school of civic involvement for Polish high school students. Participants of the Civic UP! Academy, who came to Warsaw from all over Poland, took part in classes and workshops during which they could learn more about the American system of government and the political system. They also learned from experts how to implement civic and social projects in their local communities. During the academy, the participants could also get acquainted with various aspects of American culture, such as sports and cuisine. The effects of their work could be seen during a social picnic, which the participants organized in the Wilanów district. The public could visit various zones including the zone of sport and integration and take part in the ZERO WASTE workshop. During the Civic UP! Academy closing ceremony the Deputy Chief of Mission Bix Aliu underlined the importance of sharing experience and skills with other peers.
The Embassy cooperated with the American School of Warsaw, which hosted students for most of the week and provided classrooms, access to the cafeteria and sports fields.
