On Monday June 5th U.S. Embassy Warsaw hosted an award ceremony for students and their parents from four different Polish schools honoring the students for their winning poster designs for the “Connecting People to Nature” poster competition. The students created posters reflecting the importance of protecting nature and caring about our planet.
The goal of the contest was for the students to explain why nature is important to them and what they as individuals — as well as every human being — can do to live in a cleaner environment. The students reflected on their own lives and how they can make an impact on our world today.
The U.S. Embassy Warsaw partnered with Fundacja Nasza Ziemia (Our Earth Foundation) and the American Center Warsaw to host this contest with Warsaw schools: Szkola Podstawowa nr 179, Gimnazjum Specjalne nr 107, Szkola Podstawowa nr 115, and Zespol Szkol Specjalnych nr 91.
The Embassy’s partner, Fundacja Nasza Ziemia, is a Non-Governmental Organization focused on environmental education. It was founded in 1994 and provides knowledge regarding environmental protection awareness to the citizens of Poland. The American Center Warsaw is Poland’s flagship American Space providing information and resources about the United States.
