On March 20th in Warsaw at Poland’s National Philharmonic, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra gave a sterling performance honoring the lives and works of the great American composers Samuel Barber, George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein during the 22nd edition of the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival.  They also honored one of Poland’s greatest composers Krzysztof Penderecki, who attended the concert, by playing his Adagio from Symphony No. 3.   After the performance, Ambassador Jones addressed words to Elżbieta Penderecka, the longstanding organizer of the Beethoven Easter Festival, telling her that through the festival she always brings the best of classical music from around the world to share with Polish audiences.  He added that the U.S. Embassy was delighted she had brought the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, led by renowned conductor JoAnn Falletta and accompanied by the distinguished pianist Konrad Tao, to played in this year’s edition.

The U.S. Embassy has been a proud sponsor of the Ludwig Van Beethoven Easter Festival for many years and is delighted to be supporting the visit this year of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
