April 8-11, Eben Schwartz, Marine Debris Program Manager of California Coastal Commission, spoke with Polish audiences in Warsaw, Gdańsk and Gdynia as part of the U.S. Speaker Program celebrating upcoming Earth Day. Mr. Schwartz met with Polish NGOs, local activists, students and faculty as well as city government representatives to discuss sources and impact of plastic pollution and marine debris, the Commission’s Clean Up Day – the biggest state volunteer initiative to clean the ocean and the shores, as well as educational programs, initiatives and state regulations to reduce plastic pollution. The program also included second U.S. Embassy In Focus. Polish American Speaker Series event at the American Center Warsaw, featuring Eben Schwartz as the expert speaker.
