American Performers Star at International Dance Theaters Festival in Lublin

As part of the U.S. Embassy’s yearlong celebrations of 100 Lat Razem (100 Years Together) honoring Poland’s rebirth and American support 100 years ago, the Embassy supported the International Dance Theaters Festival in Lublin which brought American ballet dancers and directors to Poland from November 16-25.  Held at Lublin’s spectacular Cultural Meetings Center, the international festival was taking place for the 22nd year and included star performances by the New York-based Alvin Ailey II American Dance Theater and the Alonzo King LINES Ballet from San Francisco.  New York ballet luminary Colleen Thomas Young directed a performance of ballet dancers form the United States, Poland, Ukraine, and Belarus that opened the festival.  Cultural Attaché Dan Hastings attended the closing performance and in his remarks thanked Polish partners and American ballet performers for connecting Poland and the United States through the performing arts.  The U.S. Embassy would like to salute the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Cultural Meetings Center, and City of Lublin for supporting and hosting this important cultural exchange.
