The 8th of the American Film Festival (AFF) in Wroclaw

The 8th of the American Film Festival (AFF) officially opened on October 24 in Wroclaw and will last until October 29. The Festival is known for a rich variety of American films that otherwise would not be shown in Polish cinemas.  Of the 93 feature films being shown, 56 are making their premieres in Poland.  There is something for everyone-from the latest in contemporary American film, to cutting-edge documentaries, to classics of American film history.

This Festival has also honored one of the iconic stars of American cinema, Ms. Rosanna Arquette, with the Indie Star Award for being one of the outstanding creators of independent American cinema.

This year’s retrospective will also showcase the films of the critically acclaimed screenwriter, novelist, and film director Samuel Fuller as well as Christina Fuller’s documentary of her late father.

Smaller retrospectives of Sam Shepard and Gregg Araki will showcase those outstanding American filmmakers.

The American Film Festival is the only festival of its kind in Poland, and one of only two in Europe.  The Embassy has been a sponsor of the AFF ever since its inception and is proud to support the 2017 edition.
