U.S. Embassy Employees Observe Foreign Service Day

Ambassador Paul W. Jones and mission employees at the U.S. Embassy of Warsaw gathered for Foreign Service Day on May 4, 2018 to remember the sacrifices made by those representing U.S. missions overseas. 250 Foreign Service officers have lost their lives while serving overseas, including most recently in Juba, South Sudan and Bratislava, Slovakia. Those who have lost their lives are also honored by a memorial plaque located at the Department of State headquarters in Washington, D.C. Foreign Service Day was established by the U.S. Senate and is observed by posts overseas at noon local time on May 4th each year.
