The exhibition Frank Stella and Synagogues of Historic Poland opens today for public viewing at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, Warsaw. This is the first show of the great American abstractionist in Poland and it features the extraordinary sculptural reliefs from his Polish Villages series. These works will be set side by side with the pre -World War II photographs and measured drawings of the wooden synagogues which inspired Stella – a fascinating overlap and interplay of two worlds: that of the Polish wooden synagogues and of modern American art.
A public meeting with Frank Stella will be held on Friday, February 19 at 18:00 http://www.polin.pl/pl/search/node/spotkanie
