U.S.-EU Panel on Horizon 2020

The panel featured information for participants on how organizations in the U.S. can partner with the European Union’s Horizon 2020 framework program for research and innovation. The panel gave an overview of the new Implementing Arrangement between the U.S. Government and European Commission to enhance transatlantic cooperation on science, technology, and innovation, signed on October 17, 2016. The new Implementing Arrangement allows for U.S. researchers to collaborate, with their own sources of funding, with a Horizon 2020 research project WITHOUT having to sign the Horizon 2020 grant agreement. This approach has the potential to create new transatlantic research partnership opportunities, supported by the E.U.’s signature Horizon 2020 research funding program and U.S. federal, state, private, and foundation funds.
