On June 22 Frank Finver, Counselor for Press and Culture appeared at the new Sopoteka Library premises to introduce a lecture by Memphis Pink Museum Curator, Steve Masler on historical developments of the city — Memphis at 200: the River, the Struggles for Civil Rights and the Rebirth of a Great City.
Finver thanked American organizers and sponsors of Memphis in Poland and Sopot Mayor Karnowski for the city’s wonderful hospitality. He read a letter from Ambassador Mosbacher which underlined common aspirations of both Memphis and Sopot and included a quote from Martin Luther King’s famous 1968 “I’ve Been to the Mountain Top” address in Memphis in which he stated “for when people get caught up with that which Is right and they are willing to sacrifice for it, there is no stopping point short of victory.”
