On Monday July 16 U.S. Embassy Warsaw and American Councils for International Education launched a mentoring program for alumni of the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 FLEX exchange. FLEX exchange participants get scholarships to go to the USA for a year to study at an American high school and stay with an American host family.
The FLEX Alumni Mentoring Program aims to connect FLEX alumni (mentees) with senior alumni (mentors) of other U.S. Government-sponsored exchange programs for a unique professional development and leadership opportunity.
The mentors are professionals in various fields who were part of a past exchange program such as Fulbright, IVLP or other. Young participants in the Program (mentees) will work over the next year with their mentors to develop their leadership and project management skills. The program aims to guide mentees through the planning of their own community project. The chosen project ideas will be eligible for funding for implementation of the mentees project.
The mentors and mentees met at the inauguration and training in Warsaw on July 16-17, 2018. Because of the diverse locations of mentors and mentees around Poland, they will mostly communicate online and on the phone. Mentors will also support their mentees’ personal development as they choose a university or future career path.
