Embassy Participates Vital Voices Women’s Mentoring Walk

On March 9 in Warsaw’s stunning Lazienki Park, Deputy Chief of Mission Eric Green addressed over 200 participants at the start of Vital Voices Poland’s 8th Annual Mentoring Walk.  Vital Voices Director Ela Raczkowska and her colleague Marta Byczkowska matched 100 young women mentees with 100 experienced women from business, civil society, government and academia who used the walk as a networking opportunity to share best practices on career and leadership development. In his remarks, Deputy Chief of Mission Green highlighted the positive impact the mentoring event has for mentors and mentees alike.  The participants were also treated to an inspirational talk by the well-known Polish traveler and social activist, Janek Mela, the founder of the Beyond Horizons [Poza Horyzonty] Foundation, and a jazz performance by Sacha Strunin and her group.  Graduates of I am a Leader, a project run by Vital Voices in Poland that the US Embassy supports,  were also invited to participate as mentees during the walk, which was joined by members of the U.S. Embassy.
