Ambassador Jones and Fulbright Director Kick off 2nd Edition of High School Mentorship Program

Ambassador Jones kicks off 2nd Edition of EducationUSA Advisory Program in Warsaw

On March 9 in Warsaw, Ambassador Jones and Justyna Janiszewska, Executive Director of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission, kicked off the 2nd edition of the “EducationUSA Advisory Program” for 20 Polish high school students interested in studying at American universities.  The 20 students were selected from an application field of almost 400 high school students across Poland. You can read their bios here: http://educationusa.pl/program-doradczy/uczestnicy/.

Over the next 12 months, each of the selected students will receive one-on-one mentoring from American or Polish alumni of U.S. universities and colleges on how to research and apply for study at American universities. You can read mentors’ bios here: http://educationusa.pl/program-doradczy/mentorzy/. Additionally, EducationUSA advisors from the U.S. Embassy and Fulbright will hold monthly webinars for the high school students where additional topics and assignments will be covered.  Some of the mentors are current or past Fulbright Scholars from Poland and the United States.  Six high school mentees from the previous edition of the program were admitted to U.S. universities with scholarships and the hope is that there will be an even greater number of students admitted from this year’s cohort of mentees.  Ambassador Jones encouraged the mentees, noting that “Last year, there were over 1,400 Polish students studying at U.S. universities and colleges.  Now it’s your turn to be one of them.  We believe the workshops and the guidance provided by this program and your mentors will make a huge difference as you apply for universities.”
