Cultural Attaché Supports Embassy and Fulbright Mentorship Program for High School Students

Dan Hastings with the mentees of the EducationUSA Advisory Program

On August 31, 2018 Cultural Attaché Dan Hastings met with the mentees of the EducationUSA Advisory Program. The students came to Warsaw from all over Poland for a training related to preparing their successful application to universities and colleges in the United States. The high school mentorship program was prepared by the U.S. Embassy in cooperation with the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission. In addition to Cultural Attaché, the speakers at the training included Genevieve Lubas, a mentor of the EducationUSA Advisory Program, William Helmcke, a Fulbright Program Fellow, Natalia Kozłowska from the Fulbright Commission and Monika SwitakowskaTebeau from the American School of Warsaw. Dan Hastings commended the mentees for their determination and hard work and said the Embassy was crossing its fingers that many of them would be accepted by the U.S. universities. He also saluted the trainers, experts and speakers for their support and commitment to the program.

Earlier in 2018 26 high school students were selected to the mentorship program from an application field of almost 400 high school students across Poland. The program provides each student one-on-one mentoring from American or Polish alumni of U.S. universities and colleges on how to research and apply for study at American universities. You can read mentors’ bios here: http://educationusa.pl/program-doradczy/mentorzy/.
