On June 17 the City of Słupsk held its second edition of “Ziemia Słupska,” a popular and colorful festival of folklore groups that the U.S. Embassy helped to support.  The festival featured 21 musical folk ensembles that performed music from various regions.  The festival also included sounds and sights from America, with the Huu-Ska Luta band performing Native American songs and the Honky Tonk Brothers staging a country music concert.  The festival featured works by many local artisans, as well as regional foods.  In a faithfully reconstructed Native American village, numerous attractions for children were also organized.  U.S. Navy personnel from Redzikowo attended the folk festival where Captain Scott McClelland joined local authorities and festival organizers from Regionalne Centrum Edukacji in welcoming guests to the festival.  The Navy officials also presented awards from the U.S. Embassy to the folk groups. Ziemia Słupska 2018 provided an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the strong people-to-people and security ties that connect Poland and the United States.
