U.S. Embassy Warsaw and Służewski Dom Kultury invite you to take part in the Step Afrika! Summer Dance Camp! If you are 13-18 years old and interested in dance, join us for this five-day workshop led by the world famous American dance company Step Afrika! The program will take place July 11-15 at the Służewski Dom Kultury in Warsaw. The workshop is free of charge.
Founded in 1994, Step Afrika! is the first dance company in the United States devoted entirely to step, an African-American dance form that links together elements of hip-hop, tap and traditional African dance. The dancers use their bodies to make sound and images, creating an unbelievable performance. Here’s a sample of Step Afrika’s incredible moves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xQYr6P_qBc
This workshop will run July 11-15, from 10:30 to 15:30 each day. The final day of the workshop will culminate in a performance from the participants to demonstrate their new skills. English language is not required and you do not need dance experience to participate.
The workshop is free of charge. Lunch and water will be provided and the organizers will cover the cost of public transportation to the location of the workshop (Służewski Dom Kultury, ul. Jana Sebastiana Bacha 15).
