Get ready, Superheroes fans in Poland! This year, on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Batman, the Embassy’s wonderful partner EC1 Łódź – City of Culture is bringing to Poland the iconic Dawn of the Superheroes exhibition. This unique and rare exhibition – shown to date only in France, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates – will run from September 27, 2019 through February 2, 2020 at EC1 Łódź. It will feature Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman and other superheroes from the universe of DC Comics, one of America’s storied comic book companies. Visitors will see original costumes and movie props, drawings of famous artists (Jim Lee, Bob Kane, Neal Adams, Frank Miller and Alex Ross), a BatPod model and Batman’s Cave, original sketches and comic boards, and other behind-the-scenes materials from Warner Bros., the parent company of DC Comics. Supporting the exhibition’s appearance in Poland are Art Ludique – Le Musee, Warner Bros, and DC Entertainment. The U.S. Embassy is also a proud supporter of the amazing exhibit, and in October will bring to Poland the American author and journalist Reed Tucker who wrote the acclaimed book — Slugfest: Inside the Epic, 50-Year Battle Between Marvel and DC – about the epic competition between the DC and Marvel comics companies. To promote the upcoming exhibition, and to celebrate Batman’s 80th birthday, EC1 Łódź – City of Culture organized Batman’s Zone at the Central Railway Station in Warsaw on September 15. The pop-up zone included numerous attractions such as virtual recognition (VR) games with Batman, quizzes with prizes, a mini exhibition, a photo booth, and some history on the Dawn of the Superheroes exhibition. Cultural Affairs Officer Dan Hastings took advantage of the opportunity and had fun playing a VR game and enjoying other attractions.
