BEMOWO PISKIE, Poland— The NATO Enhanced Presence Forward Battle Group Poland is set to replace commanders and units in a transfer of authority scheduled for September 20, 2018.
Battle Group Poland commanded by U.S. Army Lt. Col. Timothy Wright and Commander of 1st Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment relinquishes command to the incoming Battle Group Poland and Task Force Raider, 2nd Squadron, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment Commander, Lt. Col. Donny Hebel.
The eFP provides a robust multinational presence in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland respectively. It is comprised of multinational forces provided by framework nations (Canada, Germany, United Kingdom and the United States) and other contributing Allies on a voluntary, sustainable, and rotational basis.
In support of the United States commitment to European security and deterrence, each task force is comprised of over 850 soldiers based at armories across the state and form battalion-sized battle groups, in country, with additional personnel supplied by multinational Allies within six-month rotations.
Battle Group Poland is a unique, multinational battle group, comprised of U.S., U.K., Croatian and Romanian Soldiers who serve with the Polish 15th Mechanized Brigade as a defense and deterrence force in northeast Poland in support of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence.
