October 10th marked a very special day for the U.S. Embassy in Poland represented by Frank Finver, Public Affairs Officer, Alison Behling, ESTH Officer, and colleagues. That Wednesday, they joined Klub Gaja, Fundacja Nasza Ziemia, the city of Warsaw, and Lasy Panstwowe, and participated in a tree planting ceremony for the Festival of the Tree. This amazing event took place at Służewski Dom Kultury in Warsaw, and ran for the better part of the afternoon. The underlying mission of this event was to raise public awareness about the importance of protecting environments, forests, and the critical role trees play in improving air quality. The U.S. Embassy is also delighted to support the efforts of Klub Gaja, Fundacja Nasza Ziemia, and others by cooperating in the year-long “100 Trees / 100 Years” campaign, which will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence, and celebrate the planting of many trees across the country – starting in Warsaw, and including cities with American Spaces locations throughout the next year: Krakow, Gdansk, Lodz, Lublin, Katowice, Radom and Wroclaw.
