Today, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Poland, Paul Wayne Jones, arrived in Warsaw and took charge of the U.S. diplomatic mission. Ambassador Jones will present his credentials to the President of Poland Andzrej Duda at the earliest opportunity. After presenting his credentials, he will begin working with Polish counterparts to strengthen U.S.-Poland relations, increase trade between the two countries, and further enhance our strategic security partnership.
Ambassador Jones is a career member of the State Department’s Senior Foreign Service with a wide-ranging background in Europe and Asia. He most recently served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs from 2013-15. In that position he was responsible for all aspects of U.S. policy and operations in Europe, particularly Russia and Ukraine. Ambassador Jones served as the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia from 2010-13 where he led significant growth in the U.S.-Malaysian relationship. He was Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna, Austria (2004-05) and also at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia (1996-99).
