Poland and the United States have been treaty partners under the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (Hague Abduction Convention) since November 1, 1992. The Government of the United States has designated the Office of Children’s Issues of the Department of State as its central authority for parental child abduction cases.

If suspicions that a child abduction may occur:

- Calls made from abroad dial 202-501-4444 or email the Office of Children Issues in Washington (CA/OCS/CI) at AskCI@state.gov.
- Callers located in Poland, contact both CA/OCS/CI and the Ministry of Justice, Division of International Proceedings in Family Matters at (22) 23 90 470; e-mail: polandchildabduction@ms.gov.pl to receive guidance on available legal options and on the operation of the Hague Convention on child abduction. Caller should also contact the Embassy ACS during normal business hours at 22-504-2784.
