On April 24 the Jazz Ambassadors from the visiting U.S. Air Force Europe (USAFE) Band visited Grudziądz where they delighted 200 hundred spectators with Big Band and jazz classics before holding a spontaneous jam session with local residents after the show. The 14 male and female musicians played a range of jazz classics from American greats like John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald and jazz interpretations by Bonnie Raitt, George Benson and compositions by their own members. Cultural Affairs Officer Dan Hastings and the Director of the Accent Cultural Theatre in Grudziądz introduced the Jazz Ambassadors and thanked them for coming to celebrate the centennial of Poland’s regained independence and U.S. support for Poland. At the end of the concert, the Jazz Ambassadors invited those in the audience to jam with them on stage, including high school music students they had visited earlier in the day to give a master class. On April 26 the Jazz Ambassadors complete their nine day tour of Poland with a grand finale concert at the spectacular Szczecin Philharmonic Hall!
