Medical Examination

Before issuing an immigrant, diversity or fiancé(e) visa, every applicant, regardless of age, must undergo a medical examination. The examination will be conducted by a medical doctor designated by the Embassy. The applicant is responsible for all medical examination fees.

The medical examination cannot be performed by the applicant’s own physician.

Please note that as of October 1, 2021 also COVID-19 vaccination (must be a vaccine approved for emergency use by the U.S. government or by the World Health Organization) will be required for all immigrant, diversity and fiancé visa applicants.

NEW Important information regarding COVID-19 vaccination requirement for children 

According to CDC requirements, as of July 25th, 2022, all children who are 6 months of age or older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The full series consists of 3 doses of Pfizer vaccine or 2 doses of Moderna vaccine. It may take a minimum of 12 weeks to fully vaccinate a child against COVID-19.

We recommend that residents of Russia and Belarus perform the medical examination in Moscow or Minsk.

Согласно требованиям Центра по контролю и профилактике заболеваний, с 25 июля 2022 года все дети в возрасте 6 месяцев и старше должны быть полностью вакцинированы против COVID-19. Полный цикл состоит из 3 доз вакцины Pfizer или 2 доз вакцины Moderna. Полная вакцинация ребенка от COVID-19 может занять не менее 12 недель.

Жителям России и Белоруссии рекомендуем проходить медицинское обследование в Москве или Минске.

As of September 8, 2021, applicants who are processing their immigrant visa case in Warsaw may visit a panel physician in Moscow for the required medical examination.

As of July 2022 visa applicants from Ukraine may now undergo medical examination at the Sheptytskyy Hospital in Lviv.
