Chargé d'Affaires Eric Green

Chargé d’Affaires, Eric Green, gave opening remarks at the 3rd edition of the Young Leaders Conference on March 2 atop the Warsaw Spire in downtown Warsaw.  With the conference theme of “100 Years of U.S.-Polish Diplomatic Relations, Chargé d’Affaires Green addressed an audience of 150 young students from high schools and universities across Poland underscoring the importance of youth in renewing the strong relationship shared between Poland and the United States and then answering questions about the direction and strength of U.S.-Polish relations.

Following his opening remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Green then met with several alumni of U.S. government funded exchange programs from FLEX (http://americancouncils.pl/) and Transatlantic Future Leaders Forum (http://transatlanticforum.org/) who were attending the one day conference.

The conference is organized annually by a group of high school students from Batory High School in Warsaw under the umbrella of the Ludwik Rajchman Foundation (named after the Polish-Jewish physician and founder of UNICEF) to inspire Polish youth.  Other speakers at the conference included Professor Niall Ferguson (Hoover Institution, Stanford University – video stream), Jarosław Królewski (CEO of Synerise, one of the closest retail partners of Microsoft), former Polish Prime Minister Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, as well as Polish students from Harvard, Stanford, LSE and Oxford.

For the U.S. Embassy, it was an opportunity to bring our bilateral relationship even closer with a new generation of Poles while celebrating 100 years of establishing of diplomatic relations between Poland and the United States.
