On June 19 in Białystok, the American duo Elizabeth Schwartz and Peter Stan from New York performed the grand finale at the closing gala of the 11th edition of the Zachor Festival of Jewish Culture.  The Zachor Festival, which took place this year from June 16-19, celebrates the rich Jewish cultural heritage in northeastern Poland.  It was co-organized by the Citizens Education Center Poland-Israel (Centrum Edukacji Obywatelskiej Polska-Izrael in Białystok) and the Jewish Community in Warsaw.  The U.S. Embassy was a proud sponsor.  The festival included outdoor concerts, workshops in music and dance, kosher cooking, lectures and a guided tour of Jewish Bialystok lead by Heidi M. Szpek, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Central Washington University.  The Mayor of Białystok Tadeusz Truskolaski thanked the organizers and sponsors for their efforts and support.  For more information on this year’s Zachor Festival please click here.
